Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): Another strong trade, with less of the strongest calves around. Best Blues from Henry Knowles, last in the ring at £430, better end £400+ with the next draw in the £300s. Best of the heifers came from The Salthouses, Elswick at £365, plenty of the stronger sorts £320+, with the next stage either side of £300. J Lawson & Son continuing to show the best Angus’ not quite as dear as last week’s exceptional trade but still respectable at £400, others often £270-£320. A lovely packet of Simmental x Fleckvieh Heifers from FIshwick Farms met much interest, topping at £355, Fleckvieh bulls topping at £300 from Will Robinson, Slaidburn. Trade of the day has to be the Black + Whites, Tom Whitaker, Winmarleigh showing a strong pair, a Friesian type at £360 and its Holstein counterpart at £325, both just over 12weeks. Strong milk calves £132-162, whilst a run of 20-30day calves selling from £75-£95, with the smalls £40-£50.
