Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): An indifferent show of calves, the best in serious demand, with the plainer end meeting a limited audience. The Stephensons of Tunstall answered the call for Continental calves and topped the day at £555, £535, £485 twice. Henry Knowles also up at £400 with his Blue Heifer, next draw calves £280-£380, with the younger continentals in the mid £200s. A few Simmentals from Fishwick Farms topped at £335 and £235 for Bulls & Heifers respectively. Native calves a similar story to the continentals with the best at £440 & £450 with others either side of £200. Heifers a touch harder to place, but still looking on their value. A strong Black and White trade, with Duncan Robinson’s 8 week old bulls at £285, Robert Butterfield’s best at £200, plenty £120-£170, next draw £80-£110, with a few plainer sorts less.
