Auctioneer’s Report (Greg MacDougall): A packed ringside of buyers from far and wide, some attending for the first time, ensured that all classes of store lambs met with the dearest trade of the season so far with some £5-£10 dearer than the previous sale. Strong and best bred Continental and Suffolk lambs either side of £70 with the best £75-£80. Medium term sorts around £60-£65 with the long keep lambs £54-£58. Texel lambs out of Horned sheep either side of £50. Strong pens of Mules £64-£71 topping at £76. Next draw down around £60 with small lambs in the £50s. Best Dales and Swale lambs selling between £40-£48 with smaller types £25-£35 depending on condition. Rough Fell lambs from B Dicksinson & Co, Brockstones sold to £62 with others at £59.50. Many more lambs could have been sold with entries now invited for the next sale on Tuesday 26th November with another busy ringside of customers expected. Overall average £59.75 for 3220 sold (2018= 2604 average £48.79).
