Auctioneer’s Report (Greg MacDougall): With an abundance of grass and prime lamb prices still flying high as well as plenty confidence on the back of a record spring trade the store lamb sales of 2021 got off to another flying start. 676 more lambs sold on the year with an overall average of £79.37 being achieved for 3739 sold (+£7.77 on the year). Well meated strong lambs and smart Beltex types selling at extreme rates with plenty either side of £100 with the smarter end £105-£120 topping at £122. Long term lambs shown in nice bloom on the whole sold between £70-£74 with RH Mole’s run of 506 selling to a top of £85 to average £77.22. Medium term lambs (32-35kg) around £80. A great run from E&M Townley topped at £120, M Ratcliffe to £117, R M Mason to £110, ST&JE Foster to £109, DR&JE Ellison to £107. Chevmules to £89 from Stewart Frith, Ashbourne. A record entry of Mules for a first sale sold to £76.50 from JW Hall, Darnbrook with trade in general £67-£70. Horned lambs to £73.50 for SBF from A Kirby, Kirkby Stephen and Swales to £60 again from J W Hall, Darnbrook. Next sale Tuesday 27th July.
