Auctioneer’s Report: Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): A highlight of the December Stirk sale has to be the Christmas show, with strong entries forward in each of the 4 classes, Simon Lord efficiently picked his winners, before awarding Colin & Daniel Bell, Barnard Castle the Champion Rosette with their Bullock, he later sold at £1100 to the judge. Malcolm Taylor stood reserve with his heifer, she also hit 4 figures at £1000, going to the same home. Best show cattle good to sell, with buyers keen to secure the smartest types. Away from the show a good ringside of buyers looking for cattle, the top end regularly £820+, the next draw £640-£750. Best heifers generally in the £700’s with those with breeding potential up to £950. Dairy bred stirks either side of 6months looking the best value on the day. Monty & NRW bullocks £660 & £630 from Edward Towers, whilst Black and Whites sold to a top of £755 from PM & AM Ward & Sons, other Friesian types to £660 from WT Whitaker & Son.
