Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): Dave Barton, Lupton Hall takes Bentham dairy sale by storm as his heifer rockets to £3020. Luptonhall Lunar Ruth, calved 26days and giving 29litres, sold to Ted Walton, Wrea Green for the day’s top price of £3020. Other best heifers all easily sold, David Knowles next in line at £2850 with his 22day, 33litre heifer heading to Cheshire with Rob Ford, John Fox making it to the headlines again, his Delta Lembda sired heifer, a fortnight fresh and with a generous 35litres, also caught the eye of Rob Ford at £2800. A Friesian heifer next in line from DJ Potter-Wharton, Orton at £2700, with a daily yield of 20litres. Three at £2600, two from David Knowles, along with John Lawson, Sweetings. John’s 2nd calver, Sweetings Megaman Rouge, topped the cow section at £2680, other cows £1750-£2000 depending on type and quality, with those with faults less. A total of 10 heifers over £2500, another 6 over £2000, with only one under £2000, to average £2444.
