Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander):

Auctioneer’s Report: Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): Stephen Bowes of Stainton acted as judge for the annual Winter Blues show. It was a first and second in the bull class for Trevor Hodgson, whilst Henry Knowles and Hannah Storton took a clean sweep in the heifer class. Trevor’s bull was awarded the champion ticket over the first place heifer, which stood reserve, both of which realised £450. Six Blue Bulls between £420-£450, whilst the best heifers £390-£410. Next draw of the blues generally £288-£345, with those a little younger £185-£235. Thanks must go to the show day sponsors, British Blue Cattle Society, Semex Beef and Norbreck Genetics. All other beef bred calves met by a ready ringside of buyers. Angus calves continue to be in demand, the best bulls £260-280, topping at £295 from Raymond Burrow, Tatham. Limousins to £345 from Trevor Hodgson, whilst there was a shortage of quality Limousin heifers which is reflected in the average. Dairy bulls good to sell from start to finish, a run of Black and White Bulls from John Young, Kendal, topped at £128, £120 x2 and averaged £94 at 8 week whilst Chris Booth, Wigglesworth sold 5 Montbelliarde bulls at 4weeks to peak at £160 and average £133.
