Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): A nice a show of dairy this morning, a full ringside of buyers present – some leaving empty handed. Twice the number could have been sold to vendors’ advantage. A run of 5 from John & Nicola Young of Jenkin Cragg took all the top spots with all 5 over £2000, topping at £2220 with the 13 days calved pedigree heifer “Youngbro Magistar Riley” and averaging £2100. Others regularly £1800-£1950 with the next bracket £1550-£1680. A few more cows on offer- Colin Birkett’s 2nd calver at £1950, but it was Richard Robinson’s 17day calved 40litres 2nd calver that took the eye of many, last in the ring she realised £2200, staying with local Kirkby Lonsdale farmer Richard Metcalfe & Family.
