Auctioneer’s Report (Stephen Dennis): A much bigger audience for in lamb sheep than could reasonably have been expected bearing in mind weather and ground conditions. Consequently, all classes sold at rates beyond expectations. The sale opened with two pens of 2 crop Mules from John Wilson of Runley Mill making £202 and £200. Mule shearlings from Tim Crick topped at £175 to average £154.58 for a run of 270. Texel x ewes from East Mains sold to £202 and shearlings to £195 whilst Robert Towers sold his pen of first cross Texel hoggs in lamb at £185. The reduction sale of Lleyn shearlings from Denton Park were well followed topping at £190 to average £147. Several consignments of Swaledale ewes provided plenty of interest. The Dispersal of the Nether Lodge Flock sold to £155 with several lots between £140-£150. The best of the Swales from Philip Charnley making £165 for one crops whilst the annual consignment of Aged Swaledales from John Nutter ranged between £110-£122. The highlight of the sale was a Pedigree Suffolk shearling scanned twins from Allan Blair selling to £900 to John Jackson of Holmrook, West Cumbria.
