Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): A shortage of dairy for the final sale of the year, plenty of men ringside and keen for milk. John Fox continues to produce the goods, with his Pedigree heifer “Blackwood Embla 527” 13days calved and giving 30litres, she soared to the days top price of £2480, closely followed by Mark Atkinson at £2300. Even the heifers with faults well followed, a lovely but slightly slow milker from David Knowles to £1880 whilst a 3 quarted Pedigree heifer from A Brough, Cockermouth hit £1320. Friesian cattle very much in demand, Mike Livesey’s 3rd calver at £1850, a heifer from R Sunderland at the same price. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you for the Semex Dairy day on 6th January.
