Auctioneer’s Report (Greg MacDougall): Very much a tail end show forward with a few pens of quality hoggs spread through. A pleasing number of hoggs with several buyers left short of requirements and many more could have been sold. Please note an extra sale will be held next Tuesday 2nd March to accommodate Island sheep unable to get to today’s sale. Some nice pens of Continentals saw anything half decent sell from £100+ with 11 sell to the day’s top price of £150, a record for store lambs. Small long keep types £60-£80 with some a little less. Mule hoggs to £91 from JC Wade & Son with trade in general £62-£74 while a pen of 30 Scotch Mules sold to £100. Stronger Swales £80-£87, middle draws £60-£70 with smaller weak sorts £30-£50. A run of 356 mainly SBF hoggs from Matinley Farms (mainly tups) topped at £96 with others to £91. Next cut down £81+ with smaller types £62-£75. 888 hoggs sold to average £77.50.
