Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): A huge entry for the second Hogg and Lamb sale attracted buyers from throughout Lincolnshire, Anglesey, as well as the local three counties, ensuring all classes sold to full value. Mules would be dearer on the month, the best to £370 for Winter Bros 2nd prize pen, with Messrs Sowerby's first prize pen at £350, EJ Ward & Son were awarded 3rd prize and later made £305. Most in general £230-£270 dependent on quality, to average £234. A mixed show of Texel x hoggs, the best £300+, topping at £420 from Nick & Charlotte Brown, with their 1st prize pen. Second quality either side of £250, with the next draw a shade less. Cheviot Mules sold to £330 from R & E Butterfield, Bentham, whilst the few pens of Suffolks forward saw the best to £320 for Suffolk Half-Breds from Winter Bros and £250 for all 4 pens of Suffolk Mules from Neil Edmondson.
