Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): A bigger show of dairy this week, with something to suit all buyers. A similar trade to last week, with the best dearer. Brian Robinson selling the best of his trio at £2400, whilst John & Edward Fox hit £2480 with their pedigree heifer “Blackwood Embla 513”, she was 11days calved yielding 24l, heading home with David & Joe Wannop, Heaton. Also matching this top price was “Berryholme Dewars Maid” from David Wright, this 31l heifer was snapped up by an undisclosed Cheshire buyer. Trade on the whole saw most heifers £1800-2000 with a few creeping over the £2000 mark. Those a little longer calved, or a fraction short of milk, either side of £1650. Cows to a high of £2100 from Arthur Robinson, Milnthorpe, closely followed by new vendor John Walmsley, Harrogate with his 2nd calver at £2050, with George Whitwell realising £2000 with his 2nd calved cow. A couple of crossbred cows from £1750, £1720 from Adrian Bland, Ninezergh.
