Auctioneer’s Report (Stephen Dennis): A busy sale of ewes and shearlings with an entry to suit all requirements and budgets. Patrick and Joseph Shepherd of Millom expertly placed the show pens of Mule Shearlings awarding 1st and 3rd prize to John Wilson of Kendal with Brian Bowness taking a deserved 2nd. Mule shearlings on the whole dearer than the 1st sale especially for the bottom end. Cheviot Mules again in fashion topped by John Wilson’s pen of 10 making £200 whilst Continentals were again good to selling topping at £175 for a pair of Texels from Messrs Carter of Winnmarleigh. Breeding ewes once again sold above expectations with notable consignments from North of the Border from Alan Ross and Robert Wilson and a flock dispersal from Kate Foster of Derbyshire being well followed. A good sale throughout which should have satisfied vendors.
