Auctioneer’s Report (Stephen Dennis): The trade as hot as the day itself with a packed ringside of both new and returning customers. All classes in strong demand with quality pens once again selling at premium rates. Top quality and good commercial sorts regularly £20/outfit dearer whilst second quality outfits with younger lambs sold at similar rates. Winter Bros took the prize honours with a pen of outstanding Mules sucking Suffolk x lambs selling to local farmer Chris Hewitt for £350. Messrs Sowerby also selling top quality pens to £305 on two occasions. Other top pens £260-£290 with plenty on offer from £220-£240. Continental hoggs again well sought after with Messrs Stapleton again leading the way with 1st Prize pen at £385 returning home with Messrs Foster of York. Nick & Charlotte Brown and Richard & Carol Benson both sold top pens at £360 and Tony Birkett at £345 and £335. A cracking day enjoyed by all. Next Hogg & lamb sale Wednesday 9th June. A good entry of 200 Ewe & Lamb outfits this Wednesday 2nd June.
