Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): Something for everyone in the dairy shippons this morning, with more on offer than first catalogued with 24 going under the hammer. A pair of smashing 2nd calved cows from George & David Whitwell took the sale by storm, his first at £2400, heading south with a load to Carmarthen. Their second surpassing this, being knocked down at £2420, heading North with Messrs Wharton. Four Friesian cows from Mike Livesey peaked at £1450 for a 3rd calver, with a 4th calver at £1400. Heifers sold to a top of £2100 from David Knowles, again heading south to Wales. David also sold a very correct Frisian heifer, sold 18days calved and with a daily yield of 26litres, she was knocked down to Messrs Foster at £2000. Trade was generally fairly strong, but maybe not as fast as previous weeks and generally £1800-£1980. Next sale in a fortnight- Wednesday 17th February.
