Auctioneer’s Report (Stephen Dennis): The Annual Autumn Sale of Suckler Breeding Cattle selling at premium rates. The annual consignment of BB x Lim in calf heifers from John & Jean Bradley sold to a high of £2800 to average £2380. Jonathan Townley topping at £2300 to average £2088. Nick Brown’s heifers not due until March sold from £1800-£2000. 1st cross in calf heifers not just as well sought after generally in the £1200-£1500 bracket whilst better demand for the later spring calvers. A selective trade for the spring calving cows with buyers conscious of an expensive Winter ahead and the prospect of a May/June calf resulting in prices in the £750-£950 range. A similar report for outfits were mostly sold well. A pure Lim heifer with bull calf from T & E Priestley at £2250 whilst a Lim x heifer with heifer calf from Richard Preece sold to £2200. Peter Stephenson of Cappleside also selling to £2000.
