Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): A super entry for the May Beef Breeding Sale which included the major reduction sale of the Blackpool Herd of Simmentals on behalf of JD Loftus. Cows and calves peaked at £3150 for Blackpool Hayley and her heifer calf Martha, staying local with Edward Fairhurst. Other outfits to £3000 for Blackpool Kelsi and her calf Nicky heading South with Barry Harding, Buckinghamshire. Cows and calves averaged £2261. In Calf heifers met strong bidding, all £2000 and £2350-£2500 topping at £3050 for Blackpool Lupin. Yearling heifers trade of the day £1400-£1600 peaking at £2000 for Blackpool May selling to pedigree breeders Messrs Soutar, Angus. Denizes Juggernaut, the stock bull caught the eye of the Woods, eventually being knocked down at £5000. Commercial cows and calves a strong trade, any of the best £2000-£2100 with the strongest outfit from ME & J Swarbrick, Stalmine at £2400. Straight heifers with calves £1500-£1700 with the next draw £1300-£1400. Numerous customers ringside ensured that all vendors left suited with their returns. A trio of bulls forward saw Mya Priestley’s Limousins realise £2650 and £3200 with a 14mo Angus from David Timm at £2500.
