Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander):A nice trade for the 19 dairy cows and heifers forward. Stephen Harrison, Grange over Sands took charge of the presale show, a quick and easy cow class saw Peter Swindlehurst take the Red Rosette with his 21day calved 43litre 2nd calver, ahead of Adrian Bland’s Fleckvieh x 2nd Calver, these later sold for £1900 & £1700 respectively. Nine heifers out to show took a little more deliberation, the 1st 2nd 3rd placings being award to Richard Robinson, Hoggetts, David Wright Berryholme and Robin Jennings, Hill House. Richard’s pedigree heifer “Kelletview Contrast Pansy” took the champion rosette and was sold to a final call of £2000, heading home with Joe Wannop, Morecambe. David’s 2nd prize heifer reached £1900, but taking the top price of the day was Robin Jennings at £2120. She was the best of Robin’s trio, sold 9days calved and giving 35litres, and was Skipton bound with John Howard. Away from the prize winners, plenty of heifers £1800-£1920 with the next bracket £1550-1650, to average £1677. Christmas show in a fortnight, 20th November, with entries requested for early advertising – we look forward to seeing buyers and sellers ringside to kick of the festivities with mulled wine and mince pies!
