Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): An exceptional show of dairy for the I'Anson Dairy Show, judging in the capable hands of longstanding Bentham supporter Robin Boothman, Fence. His pick of the heifers was from the Booth Family with "Hallcroft Striker Liberty" who stood first in the heifer class and overall Champion, this correct well balanced heifer sold giving 33litres to Phillip and Simon Wood, Scotforth. Best of John and Nicola Young’s quartet of heifers “Youngbro Darwin Charlotte” stood second in the heifer class and took Reserve Champion over the first prize cow, which was a 2nd calver from Jim Gorst, Tatham. Robin backed his placing and purchased the Reserve Champion at £2400. Other highflyers included Andrew Dawson, Quernmore at £2300 and Richard Robinson, Nether Kellet at £2280 and £2180 for his pair. A total of 18 milkers over £2000, top ten heifers sold to average £2231, with all 25 heifers averaging £2012. A handful of cows dotted throughout the sale, Mike Livesey leading the way with a 7gallon Friesian 3rd calver at £2320 and a Friesian 4th calver at £2100. Tom Stables’ second prize cow, fresh with her 2nd sold at £2050 whilst the 1st prize cow another 2nd calver from Jim Gorst realised £1800. A run of pedigree bulling heifers from The Youngs, Jenkin Cragg peaked at £880, to average £818. Closing the sale was a Friesian Stock bull from Clive Stackhouse, Newton selling to £1500.
