Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): A mixed entry forward at the March Show and Sale. Judging was in the capable hands of Ian Wainwright, Fife. Two strong classes put before him, his champion and reserve coming from the heifer class, Nick and Charlotte Brown, Claughton taking champion whilst Alan and Mark Woodhouse, Clapham received reserve. Nick and Charlotte also took first in the bullock class, both their bullock and heifer selling at £1500, whilst the Woodhouse’s reserve realised £1520. Smarter suckler bred cattle were still good to sell, prices to note include Bryan Carter, Ellel at £1520, £1480 with Limousin bullocks; JM Beresford, Chapel le Dale £1460 x2 and JR Fothergill, Hawes at £1430 both with Limousin bulls. Genuine grazing sorts were in ready demand all day, with the middle range cattle a little harder to place than recent sales. Black and whites to £990 from JT Grayshon, Harrogate, better end £900+.
