Auctioneer’s Report (Greg MacDougall): As expected, a much smaller show of cast sheep. A full ringside of buyers again in attendance ensuring that all classes unexpectedly were dearer on the week topping with Texels at £350 from Riverside Livestock Ltd with Procters Farm next at £300 with Texels. Again, plenty of pure and best bred ewes £250-£280. Heavy cross bred ewes including fat types £160-£190 with some passing the £200 mark. Good sellers £120-£140 with small meated sorts in strong demand for Ramadan with trade generally £90-£10. Heavier Mules £120+ with a cut below £95-£105 and lighter leaner sorts £75-£85. Hill ewes saw top pens of SBF and Swales £80-£100 with a pen of SBF to £110 from Riverside Livestock. Medium pens £60-£70 and plain £40+. A ringful of pure Welsh ewes sold to £100 from B & LN Dibb. A stronger trade for cast rams with a pen of 3 to £250. 31 goats forward to £161.50 for a pen of 14 billy kids from B & F Staveley.
