Auctioneer’s Report (Will Alexander): The Semex dairy show kicked 2021 off to a strong start, an entry of 19 milkers, 5 in-calf heifers & 7 heifer calves all met a solid trade. Mike Livesey was first up with his trio of 2nd & 3rd calved Friesian cows selling nicely from £1850-£1880. George Whitwell sold his two  cows, a 2nd calver at £2120 and 3rd calver at £1980. Heifers sold to a high of £2300 on two occasions, firstly from Mark Atkinson (pictured top left), 19days calved and with a daily yield of 32litres, matched by John Young of Jenkin Cragg (pictured bottom left), best heifers nicely of £1900, with the next bracket £1700-£1800. A lovely quartet of in-calf heifers from Messrs Lawrence, Grange over Sands sold incalf to sexed semen for March, peaking at £2000, with others at £1900, £1850 & £1820. A smashing group of heifer calves from the Duncans, Mewith met much demand, aged 3 and 6 months, these sold from £520-£570.
