Auctioneer’s Report (Stephen Dennis): Not quite the heat of last years sale with no record prices to report. Averages down on the year but a useful trade with an 85% clearance. The first Ram through the ring was presented by Richard Coates of Selber, the Champion Aged Ram selling for £900 to Messrs Church of Pateley Bridge. A small entry of Ram lambs, the leading price from David Lambert of Semerview, Selby for £450 to Heather Challis. Thomas and John Kelsall took the Champion rosette in the Shearling class which later sold for £1600 to T & A Hird, Yockenthwaite. However it was their Reserve Champion Shearling which caught the eye of the buyers selling for the day’s top price of £5500 to the Jacksons of Doukgill. Stephen Wright of Stauvins once again showed a top consignment of Shearling rams, his best selling for £5200, purchased jointly by Messrs Greenwood of Sowerby Bridge and the Kelsalls of Summerlands. Another Shearling ram Stephen sold for £4300 to Stephen and Tom Wallbank Halsteads. Robert and John Batty of Summersgill also sold to a top of £4000 purchased by Messrs Coates of Rainscar. Shearlings averaged overall £706. Aged Rams averaged overall £313. Other leading prices included: JT&J Kelsall £3500; J Carr £3500; GC&PM Haygarth & Daughter £3000; M Taylor & Son £2600; A & M A Wright & Sons £2600 x2; R Capstick & Son £2500; MJ&A Carr £2400
