Auctioneer’s Report (Greg MacDougall): Certainly something to suit everyone in the breeding cattle department. The sale got off to a good start with a junior Limousin bull from regular vendors T & E Priestley of Mewith. Once again, bulls from this home are well followed with a top price of £2900 being achieved. Cows and calves topped at £2600 for a 2nd calved Lim x Cow with a smart bull calf from R Mitchell, Greenways, Lancaster. A nice run of BB x heifers with Lim x calves at foot from RE Woodhouse, Roeburndale topped at £1920 with ME & B Mason selling a smart Lim with AA heifer calf to £1900. Included in the day’s sale was a herd reduction from J Quayle, Glenlough Farm, Isle of Man of mostly older cows. They topped at £1680 with others to £1620 averaging £1428 all in. A special sale of cows and calves from one farm will be held at the end of July. Further details to follow.
