Auctioneer’s Report: Auctioneer’s Report (Greg MacDougall): The final sale of cast sheep of the year ended in style with a fantastic trade from start to finish with all classes once again sharper. Not a busy ringside of buyers, being an off day, with the customers forward keen to secure numbers. Heavy Continental and Suffolk ewes regularly £100-£120 with better bred types £120-£138 with Beltex to £138.50 from T Crosdale and Will Alexander selling 5 Suffolks to £130. Good selling lean types either side of £90 with smaller ewes £60-£80. Plenty of pens of Mule ewes selling into the £90s topping at £100.50 from SG & LM Whalley. Next draw down £80+ with lean pens £65-£75. A good show of Horned ewes on the whole with some real runs of SBF ewes often selling between £74-£84 topping at £86.50. Strongest pens in general £70+, medium £60+ with small meaty ewes £50. Lean pens £40+. Cast rams in general either side of £100 topping at £130 for Charollais from RM Whitton, Cartmel.
