Auctioneer's Report (Stephen Dennis): The Spring Show & Sale once again created plenty of interest with both new and old buyers in attendance. Ian Swales of Goole expertly judged the pre-sale show awarding the Champion rosette to Jonathan Townley of Clapham for the 1st prize senior heifer, a Lim x BB reaching a bid of £1380 which was superseded by Carol Parker’s 2nd placed heifer topping the sale at £1650 going to breed for Mark Nelson of Bull & Cave. David Broadbent of Halifax took both 1st and 2nd prize with his junior heifers, both selling for £1160 to Francis and Andrew Smith of Westhouse. Messrs Whitaker of Bowsber sold their annual consignment of top quality bulling heifers topping at £1500 and mostly over £1300 selling to buyers from Leicestershire to Northumberland as well as an enthusiastic local audience. Overall, quality cattle selling at premium rates and all classes of commercial cattle being sold to their full value to a large audience of buyers.
